The Rainbow Treaty
Dear members and friends of New Visions,
I’m sure we are all aware of the current news cycle and its focus on the spread of coronavirus. How does that affect us at church? The leadership of New Visions is keeping abreast of the last information coming from the CDC and other health officials. We are assessing how this may affect our events and our worship. As this continues, I encourage you to consider these healthy practices:
Practice 1 – Wash and disinfect our hands
You will notice bottles of hand sanitizer are available. Use it regularly. Also, let’s wash our hands thoroughly and regularly.
Practice 2 – Greet each other warmly without touching
We are discouraging handshaking and hugging until the threat of the coronavirus passes. Elbow bumps and air waves are acceptable.
Practice 3 – Not passing the attendance pads
We will not pass the attendance pads until the threat of coronavirus passes.
Practice 4 – Not serving communion
We will not serve communion during worship until threat of coronavirus passes. If the virus lingers on past what health officials believe, we will look into a different way of serving communion. Should anybody want to receive communion, contact Pastor Doyle at rev.doyle@newvisionsumc.org or 402-202-8450 and we will make it happen.
Practice 5 – If you are sick or not feeling well, stay home. If you are in an at-risk category, care for yourself and if that means staying home, we understand
This has always been the norm for our staff and congregation. We livestream our 11:00 worship service on Facebook.
We would not lead a public worship service if we believed our participants were at risk. We believe the above measures ensure our safety at the present time. Reach out to the church should you want a pastoral visit for prayer and/or communion. We encourage patience and calm as we move through this time. We can be a good example for each other and our community.

We continue our journey through the Gospel of Mark. We have groups studying one chapter a week . Each Sunday will highlight a part of each chapter. We will wrap up on Easter Sunday, when we will celebrate the resurrection as told in the 16th chapter. You can join a group by following this link.
